Quality is embedded into Ego’s culture, and in fact represents one of our company Values.

We take pride in the quality of our products, processes, production and reputation, and this year Ego’s Quality Committee decided to celebrate World Quality Day, which raises awareness of the quality management profession.

The Committee organised several activities centred around this year’s theme - Quality: Realising Your Competitive Potential. The activities were designed to teach others about the competitive edge that quality brings, in a fun and engaging way, as well as encouraging interdepartmental collaboration.

The activities covered the areas of:

  • Customer Satisfaction - High-quality products or services lead to increased customer satisfaction. Teams identified the cause of a customer complaint through an investigation based on a true scenario.
  • Brand Reputation - Consistently delivering high-quality products or services helps build a positive brand reputation. Teams were asked to spot the defect in the packaging before it could leave Ego and hits the shelves.
  • Differentiation - In markets where competitors offer similar products or services, quality can be a key differentiating factor. Teams had to determine which of the five unlabelled hand sanitisers was Aqium, using the specification given.
  • Cost Saving - While ensuring high quality may require investments upfront, it can lead to long-term cost savings. Teams took a quiz to test their cost saving knowledge.
  • Innovation and Adaptability - Quality-focused companies often have a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and adaptability. Teams were asked to build the highest tower using only their wits and Ego packaging, deciding on whether to go for speed or take time to ensure quality.
  • Regulatory Compliance - In industries with strict regulatory standards, maintaining high quality is essential for compliance. Teams had to identify why particular artwork did not comply with regulatory standards.
  • Employee Engagement and Productivity - A focus on quality can positively impact employee engagement and productivity. Engaged employees are more likely to provide better customer service, find innovative solutions, and contribute to a company's competitive edge. Teams were asked to complete certain tasks documentation using only verbal communication.

The range of activities showcased the importance of Quality within an organisation like Ego, and how it applies across all departments.
