Recycling can be confusing, and whilst many of us think that we’re doing it correctly, Planet Ark research shows that 99% of Australians are still throwing items in the wrong bin. One of the main barriers to understanding which package goes in which bin is the lack of education in the wider community and clear instructions on packaging.
The Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) is a national labelling program developed by Planet Ark and the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) that helps take the confusion out of recycling. It provides easy to understand instructions about how to correctly dispose of all parts of a product’s packaging.
The label clearly indicates whether product packaging belongs in the rubbish bin (bin symbol), recycling bin (shaded recycling symbol), can be conditionally recycled (transparent recycling symbol), provided you follow the instructions, or if you should check your local recyclability options first.
Ego Pharmaceuticals is proud to partner with APCO to improve the recyclability of our product packaging and reduce what ends up in landfill. We are committed to including the ARL on our product ranges where possible, however, due to regulatory requirements and space restrictions, unfortunately some of Ego’s products cannot display the ARL logo on pack.
Most of Ego’s packaging, including our plastic bottles, jars, plastic tubes, cartons and leaflets can be placed in your kerbside recycling bin. The caps on our products are also recyclable, however the pumps are not, so please remove any pumps before recycling the bottles.
If you’re not sure how to correctly dispose of your empty Ego packaging, and you can’t find the ARL on pack, there is a handy tool on the ARL website that provides information on how to recycle packaging and products in your local area.
