On Thursday 25th May, the Skin and Cancer Foundation Inc held their 8th Year of the healthy skin awards at ACCA (The Australian Centre for Contemporary art). The President of the Skin and Cancer Foundation, Dr Mei Tam, introduced the awards talking to the importance of raising awareness of skin health throughout Australia. People and organisations from around Australia are nominated for the work they do within communities to assist with public education and implementation of positive practices and behaviors.
Ego Pharmaceuticals have been a long standing supporter and sponsor of the awards and Alan Oppenheim, Ego Pharmaceuticals MD, presented an award to The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. With a large proportion of their staff working outdoors in the North Queensland region, known for having one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, the Authority actively promotes skin checks and provides personal protective equipment for their employee’s long term skin health.
