Ego was delighted to attend the Official Australia Day Luncheon in Victoria on January 18th at the Melbourne Convention Centre, where Ego MD Alan Oppenheim was interviewed as a panel guest by Jon Faine, Melbourne Radio host on 774 ABC Radio.
Dr Susan Alberti officially welcomed Aunty Joy Murphy AO and the Victorian Acting Premier, James Merlino (minister education) in her opening to kick off the Australia Day celebrations with the theme togetherness and belonging.
Alan was joined on stage by Victorian Australian Local hero 2018, Mat Bowtell, an Engineer and prosthetic limb innovator and Senior Local Hero nominee, Rhonda Renwick, philanthropist and founder of Kindred Spirits Community Support organisation. The three panellists shared similar values and a strong emphasis on community, with each person and company helping and supporting the community in different ways. Alan finished with some words of wisdom for businesses in that you can succeed in a company where values take priority over profits. While Mat hopes he is inspiring people and companies to come up with ways to assist others and support communities in Australia.
The Awards honour an exceptional group of highly-respected Australians who ignite discussion and change on issues of national importance. Mat Bowtell and Rhonda Renwick represent two of the four categories included each year. Our nation celebrates the achievements and contributions of eminent Australians through the Australian of the Year Awards by profiling leading citizens who are role models for us all. They inspire us through their achievements and challenge us to make our own contribution to creating a better Australia.
As a proud Australian owned manufacturer, Ego are again supporting the Australia Day celebrations in Victoria for 2018 for the fourth consecutive year. Ego will be supplying SunSense Sunscreen, information, and some family fun games at Kings Domain, Melbourne, on Friday 26th January 2018.
